Thank you for your generosity

The new year is often a time to reflect on the year that has past. Whilst there is much we would rather forget, there is also a lot we should celebrate. Here is a list of just some of the fantastic things we have been able to do thanks to ordinary people like you and me giving of our time, money and skills to support our church.

Here at St John’s we believe that serving our community and giving generously is an important part of our faith, not least because we rely on contributions to help us pay our bills and we want to be here in Shirley for future generations. We also believe that God gave us everything we have, so by being generous with what we have been entrusted with, is an important act of faith.

What has God blessed you with? Could you contribute this to God’s mission here at St Johns? Contact us, we’d love to hear from you!

A message from Trevor Ashby on behalf of Shrublands Trust.

The Foodbank is in great need of car driver volunteers (preferably two folk per car) to do Friday deliveries to those who desperately need supplies, but can’t collect for themselves. A great opportunity to help underpin the Foodbank’s essential work. Please contact Trevor with offers of help using the form below and clicking Contact Us.

Jerusalem-Southwark Covenant Agreement signing.

On Wednesday 20 January, the Archbishop in Jerusalem, The Most Revd Suheil Dawani, and the Bishop of Southwark will sign the Jerusalem- Southwark Covenant Agreement, linking both our Dioceses formally.

In a press statement recently Archbishop Suheil said, “We in the Diocese of Jerusalem look forward to formalizing our companion relationship with the Diocese of Southwark later this month, especially in that we have already enjoyed a close association between our two dioceses through St. George’s College. This Covenant Agreement will deepen that partnership, opening new opportunities for prayer, theological reflection, pilgrimage, and mutual support of our respective ministries between the clergy and people of our two dioceses.”

The event will take place at 12:15 U.K time and 14:15 Jerusalem time. There will be a short service of midday prayer, after which Archbishop Suheil and Bishop Christopher will sign the Covenant Agreement between the two dioceses.
