“We’re fixing the holes where the
rain gets in” – to misquote the Beatles Song
The Spire of our church is covered in 1000’s of timber shingles. These shingles have been severely damaged by parakeets and patching the holes in the old shingles, which we did in 2007, is no longer feasible. Work has started to replace all the shingles at a cost of £100,000.
The Spire, designed by Sir George Gilbert
Scott, has enhanced the Shirley landscape since 1854 and you now have an
opportunity to be a part of our church history.
As you can see the current state of the spire is not at all good.

For a minimum donation of £5 you can have
your name handwritten on a label attached to the back of a shingle. You can of
course give more if you wish!
