Hi all, i annouced at the services today that I am due to be sworn in as Church Warden next wednesday.

Following the servicI was asked by a few people where the service was so here it is
Wednesday 7 June (7.15pm arrival for 8pm service) at St Mary the Virgin, Church Road, Caterham CR3 5RA.

These are fantastic services and it would be great to see a few friendly faces. Many thanks

Meet on Sunday

Children will be collected and returned to the church

during the 10am service.

The group is open to children reception age and upwards.

Last June St. John’s hosted a workshop where experts from ‘Caring for God’s Acre,’, CofE Environmental Group and Surry Wildlife met a group from the congregation to identify the various wildflowers growing in the Churchyard. The CfGA representatives were so impressed with the way we are maintaining the grounds that they decided to include the Churchyard in its national list of ‘Churchyards to Impress’. In this select list, St John’s has been included as one of three in the London section under the  title “Find a Flowery Burial Ground” with the following note.

“We are pulling together a selection of burial grounds from across the UK  which we would recommend visiting if you are looking for a well -managed site rich in wildlife and heritage.

All the sites listed here contain flower rich grassland. To see the flowers at their best, late May to mid or end of July is usually the most suitable time to visit. However do contact the site managers for more specific timings before you visit if this is important to you.

This list will be regularly updated. We would love to hear from you if you have enjoyed visiting any of the burial sites or if you have any recommendations of sites that could be featured”.
