The aim of the Mothers' Union is the advancement of the Christian religion in the sphere of marriage and family life.

The St John's branch of The Mothers' Union meet at 8.00 pm on the first Tuesday of each month and at 2.00 pm on the third Tuesday of each month.

Meetings are generally held in the Tamberlin Room attached to the church, but regular visits and outings are arranged through the year.

Attendance at meetings is not a condition of membership.

A Corporate Communion Service is held in church at 10.30 am on the first Wednesday of each month and the branch actively participate in the world-wide Annual "Wave of Prayer"
