Who
We Are
The Friday Knights is the St John’s
men’s group who meeting on the
second Friday of every month bar
August.
The group was set up by some of the
male congregation around 20 years
ago and has an active membership of
circa 60
Our events are split between nights
in the Church Hall, The Tamberlin
Room and evenings out.
Subs are £12 p.a. with a voluntary
“top up” of £8 which we pay over to
our chosen charity (Charitable
donations in 2008 totalled nearly
£3,000)
We have a widespread age group, so
no one is too old or too young.
We publish a monthly newsletter with
details of the various events which
are well attended and always fun and
sometime even educational !
If anyone is interested in joining
they can phone anyone on the
committee (numbers on the
newsletter) or see one of the male
church wardens on a Sunday for
details (there are usually a supply
of newsletters at the back of the
church). |

The Next Event...
A Croydon Walk
With
warm thanks to Bernard Maguire who has organised
the whole event; on 10th September we will have
a guided walk round the older parts of
Croydon. Bernard will lead the walk
which will commence at 7.15
sharp. Bernard
has negotiated our use of an upstairs room at
the Spread Eagle pub on Katherine Street where
we can meet before the walk so please meet
there. The Spread Eagle is a Fullers pub and is
situated next door to the Library / Clocktower
complex.
Following the walk, for which
Bernard has done extensive research, we will
return to the Spread Eagle for further
refreshments including sandwiches. The walk is
free but we will charge modestly for the
food. The price will be roughly £3 but we will
confirm on the night.
Look forward to seeing you at the
Spread Eagle before 7.15, and thanks to Bernard
for all his sterling preparation. If you are
